No person shall knowingly make or induce or cause to be made by another a false, untrue
or misleading statement or a signature of another on a certificate, application, registration,
report or other document required to be prepared pursuant to this article. No person
shall knowingly make a false, untrue or misleading oral statement to the sheriff as
to any matter investigated by the sheriff.
