§ 14-39. Disposal of dead animals.

  • (a)

    In accordance with F.S. § 823.041, any person who owns, harbors or keeps a domestic animal, upon the death of such animal for any reason, except for rabies cases or other exceptions indicated by an agency with jurisdiction, shall immediately dispose of the carcass of such animal by burning the animal or burying the animal at least two feet below the surface of the ground. However, nothing in this section shall prohibit the disposal of such animal carcasses to rendering companies licensed to do business in the state.

    (b)

    It is unlawful to dispose of the carcass of any animal by dumping such carcass on any public road or right-of-way or in any place where such carcass can be devoured by beast or bird.
