Short title. This section shall be known and may be cited as the Pasco County Sunset Ordinance.

    (b)

Review of advisory bodies. All commissions, committees, councils or boards established by the board of county commissioners, either by ordinance or resolution, which serve solely in an advisory capacity to the board of county commissioners shall be reviewed on an annual basis prior to October 1 of each year. At the time of review, the board of county commissioners shall make a determination as to the continued necessity for each particular advisory commission, committee, council or board for the upcoming fiscal year. If the board of county commissioners shall find that the continued existence of a particular advisory body is not necessary for the proper function of county government, the appropriate action shall be taken to repeal the enabling ordinance or resolution or applicable portion thereof creating the advisory body. If the board of county commissioners determines the necessity for the continued existence of a particular committee, commission, council or board, it shall make the determination in writing and the advisory body shall continue in existence for the succeeding fiscal year.

    (c)

Exemptions. Those advisory commissions, committees, councils or boards required by either state or federal statute or regulation shall be exempt from this section, and the county planning commission shall be specifically exempt from the operations of this section.
