§ 214-6. Board of consumer affairs and appeals.

  • (a)

    There is hereby established a board to be called the board of consumer affairs and appeals which shall consist of seven members. The members shall be appointed by the Pasco County legislative delegation. The seven members shall be selected as follows: There shall be one member from each county commission district and two members at large. Of the seven members there shall be at least one member representing a chamber of commerce located west of U.S. Highway 41, and there shall be at least one member representing a chamber of commerce located east of U.S. Highway 41. There shall be at least three consumers. Three members shall be appointed for a period of two years. Four members shall be appointed for a period of one year. Each member shall be eligible for reappointment for a full two-year term. Any member missing more than three consecutive meetings may be removed by the legislative delegation and a new member appointed for the remainder of the term. Vacancies shall be filled for an unexpired term in the manner in which original appointments are required to be made. The continued absence of any member from regular meetings may render such member subject to removal from office upon a majority vote of the board.

    (b)

    The board of county commissioners shall reimburse the members of the board for their reasonable mileage and other expenses incurred in the attendance of board meetings, and in carrying out of other activities necessary and essential to the fulfillment of their responsibilities, as set forth herein.
